We only use the best equipment Shimano has to offer so you can rest assured that you have the best chance to land the trophy fish of a lifetime.
We fish 4kg to 37kg line weights and promote tag and release.
Wildblue Charters use the latest fishing methods to catch your fish, including:
- live or strip baits
- slow jigs
- surface poppers
- stick baiting
- lure fishing
- large live bait for those blue water species, and
- tease and switch or splash baits.
Whether you’re staying in Paihia, Russell, Opua, Waitangi, or anywhere in between, we can pick you up and drop you safely back on the wharf again after an enjoyable fishing trip.

Game Fishing – Full Day
The Bay of Islands was made famous by Zane Grey and its deep sea fishing world records for Striped, Blue and Black Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Skipjack Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Bluenose and Hapuku (Groper).
Wildblue Charters offer full day fishing trips (9 hours) in the stunning Pacific Ocean using the latest fishing methods of lures, and tease and switch.
We fish with tackle from 10kg to 37kg.
We also promote Tag & Release.
Departure time to suit the fish bite from 7.00am.

Snapper Fishing – 4 hour or Full Day
New Zealand’s favourite fish.
Best time to catch – all year round using strip baits, live bait, soft baits and slow jigs.
We fish for snapper on reefs and structured areas using multiple methods to suit the time of year and conditions.

Kingfish Fishing – 6 hour or Full Day
Best time to catch Yellow Tail Kingfish – all year round, but winter months can produce bigger fish with an average size of between 12-15kg plus. A very hard fighting fish with long runs, pound for pound, one of the best.
We fish around deep drop offs, reefs, rocky outcrops and islands using live baits, jigs and surface poppers. Potential world record fish are there to be caught, so come and test your stamina on one of these tough fish.
Kingfish trips are based on early departure times.

Come and see the Bay of Islands and all its wildlife while cruising through the islands and sheltered bays.
See dolphins and whales by chance, nesting bird colonies up close, visit island bird life sanctuaries and pest-free habitats.
